Fill the reservoir with water. Through the force of gravity, the water flows into each self-watering base. The self-watering base uses highly absorbent wick lines to draw water to the grow bags, ensuring the soil and roots stay consistently moist.

How long can the system provide automatic watering if I go on vacation?

With reservoir full of water, the 2-pack system can provide automatic watering for up to one month; the 4-pack system can provide automatic watering for up to two weeks.

Can this automatic watering system be used with plastic pots?

No, it has to be a fabric pot in order to leach water from the wick. The plastic pot wouldn’t work.

When can my plants start using the self-watering system?

When the roots have reached the bottom of the fabric pot. In the early stages, seedlings have small root systems that may not reach the wick lines effectively. We recommend top-watering for the first 2-3 weeks until the roots grow deeper.

How can I tell if my plant’s roots have reached the bottom of the fabric pot?

Leaf Position: The plant’s leaves are level with the rim of the fabric pot. Root Growth: Dried roots are visible at the bottom of the fabric pot, either poking through or clinging to the fabric.
